Laurel's Rocket

Laurel took an "Astronauts" class at the Minnesota Children's Museum, with her cousin Ella. Inspired by the class, Laurel built and flew her first rocket this weekend. OK, mostly I built it, but she was very excited. Laurel was ready to do the two most important things:
  1. Paint it (or in this case, put Hello Kitty stickers on it)
  2. Launch it!

Here's the rocket - click for a closeup.

We also took a movie of the third launch, which was underpowered (I intentionally used a small engine - I believe a 1/4A3-2T). Laurel was too scared that the rocket would be loud, so she didn't want to push the button. Her friend Molly Scott did the honors.

As an aside, a couple of the flights were with some ancient Centauri 1/2A3-2Ts - probably manufactured in the 1980s. They flew fine.
